Go Wild For Fossils!

Tuesday, June 23, 6:30-8:00 p.m.

David Dolak, from Columbia College in Chicago, will present this interactive program about The Story of Mazon Creek, a 300 million-year-old coal forest in Illinois. Come and learn to read the stories told by fossils. Participants will have the opportunity to break open concretions and find their own fossils! This program is limited to 75 participants with a valid District Library card.

Love Chess? Never played but eager to try it? Here’s your chance to learn the basics or sharpen your skills! Players of all skill levels are invited to drop in to the Storytime rooms on Tuesday afternoons for fun and informal games of chess. Sean Fisher-Rohde, chess team coach at Palatine High School, will be available to provide guidance.

Wanted: Household Who "Read on the Wild Side"

Grab the whole household and come to the Main Library wearing your “Read on the Wild Side” T-shirts and you will receive a movie theater gift card. We’ll take your photo, or bring in your own wild household photo, and then we’ll display it on our gallery of Wild Side Summer Readers at the library and online. All members of a household must complete the requirements by Friday, July 31 to be eligible for this prize. Please claim your prize by Monday, August 31. Prizes sponsored by a grant from Target.

Summer Reading 2009-Read on the Wild Side!




ANIMAL MADNESS
Monday, June 1 – Friday, July 31

All district cardholders, ages 2 through adult, are invited to join the
Summer Reading Program “Read on the Wild Side” at the Palatine
Public Library District. Join this summer’s animal madness of reading,
fun, and prizes. Bring your Palatine Public Library District card and sign
up at the Main Library, Freeman Road Branch or Rand Road Branch
beginning Monday, June 1. Bookmobile sign up will begin Saturday, June
6. Everyone who completes the program will receive a grand prize T-shirt,
generously provided by the Friends of the Palati ne Library. The program
ends on Friday, July 31 at the respective closing time of each location.

As always, participants will have an opportunity to “Read On” in August.
